STEP-UP

Step-up’s designed to your own style of surfing and body shape.

Foundations built off making step-ups and short boards for a large variety of types of surfers over the last 12 years. Throughout this time making custom boards I have developed two different styles of rockers to cater for the different stances and styles of surfing.

The first was developed with feedback from Ben Howard and my own surfing, with added rail line rocker through the tail to help keep a longer board feeling agile and lively. This style would be suited to someone who drives a little more off their front foot or is looking to have a slightly looser step up.

The second was developed with feedback from Tom Carroll, having a more elongated rail line rocker blending into spiral vee through the tail exit. This one is for someone who may have a little more power through their back foot or a little narrower in stance. This provides the surfer with allot of hold and drive.

Both style boards can have other ingredients calibrated to each surfers needs and taste.

CUSTOM GLIDER ORDER

ORDER PROCESS

Ordering typically begins with a face-to-face consultation at my studio in Bells Beach. Alternatively, the consultation can take part over email or a phone call. During this process we discuss all the adjustments needed to make the board specific to the surfer.
Turnaround time is around 8 to 10 weeks depending on current work load.

COLOUR

Colour work is a way for me to have a dual response to board expression. Studying Josef Albers ‘Interaction of Colour’ and working with my father Simon Buttonshaw and brother Raphael Buttonshaw, deepened my exploration of colour and its relationship to how surfboards look and feel in the ocean. We can discuss this further throughout the ordering process to find a colourway that connects with you.

FINS

SB thrusters by Glide fins. These fins have been designed to give a balance of drive and response. The template is moderately upright with a large base for drive and hold. A refined tip and the more upright nature of the fin gives you the ability to tighten your arc without any release. These fins suit someone who is looking for control and response without wanting to slide out. -
