WIDOW MAKER
Offering an alternative option to a traditional thruster step-up, giving you more trim and glide.
This board has constant curve in the rail line rocker with a slight exaggerated curve near the rear fin. This helps you surf from further forward on the board for drive and carry whilst being able to step back further to tighten your archs.
The entry curve can be adjusted to desired wave shape. Flatter entry for more slopey waves and added rocker for steeper waves. Beaked nose, with a flat deck and chime running into a foiled-out tail gives plenty of paddability whilst keeping the tail sensitive.
The Fin configuration has extra small side bites paired with a 7 -8” reduced area single fin. The smaller sides bites help engage your rail in a broader range of conditions with a straight single, however they are small enough to not interfere too much with the trim of a single fin.
This board covers a large range of surf from fuller waves like the Bells bowl to steeper more powerful surf. It really likes having an open face or something curving back at you to help with feeding the board onto rail.
Offering an alternative option to a traditional thruster step-up, giving you more trim and glide with a slight compromise on agility.
CUSTOM GLIDER ORDER
ORDER PROCESS
Ordering typically begins with a face-to-face consultation at my studio in Bells Beach. Alternatively, the consultation can take part over email or a phone call. During this process we discuss all the adjustments needed to make the board specific to the surfer.
Turnaround time is around 8 to 10 weeks depending on current work load.
COLOUR
Colour work is a way for me to have a dual response to board expression. Studying Josef Albers ‘Interaction of Colour’ and working with my father Simon Buttonshaw and brother Raphael Buttonshaw, deepened my exploration of colour and its relationship to how surfboards look and feel in the ocean. We can discuss this further throughout the ordering process to find a colourway that connects with you.
FINS
For this board I have been using very small 3’1/4” Wayne Lynch side bites with a 6 1/2” - 7 1/2” smaller tip centre fin. I found this gave grip and helped intiiate feeding your rail without compromising too much on the trim and glide of a single.
